Rescue Mission!!

I almost lost my 12 y/o Golden Retriever last night.  She got out of the yard, and we have a swollen stream in the back of our property that has refroze in the past couple days, but it is not strong.  She broke through the ice and landed in water up to her chest.  I figure she was back there for about 3-4 hours, my poor baby!  When I went looking for her she couldn't even whine loud...I had trouble finding her.  I brought my basset hound/pit bull out with me to help find her, and for a dog that is kind of dumb, he really helped me to find his friend.  Thank You Biscuit!!!  I fell on the ice, and called my husband to come help to get her out of the ice hole.  I felt that if she were there any longer, she would not be making  it back home at all.  Thank goodness for cell phones!  He went into the freezing water, which was knee deep, and was able to lift her out of the water.  I sent him in the house to dry up, and I worked on getting Callie back to the house.  That was not my idea of fun.  A 70 lb dog in knee deep snow.  She realized she had to make it back and then she helped me on the trek through the snow.  What was hardest was getting her up the stairs into the house.  She couldn't get on her back legs at all.  I had to lift her.
She is not lying down with my four year old who is spoiling her with treats and bowls of water laid around her.   She is very tired and worn out, but seems to be okay otherwise.
