Most of us are familiar with Facebook, how to use it, and why it is useful. Facebook is more personal, and is a way to learn more about an individual, a business, a group, and more. Over a period of time one can learn much information about people and organizations. A person can really grow to like this person, group, or organization, and possibly feel a friendship or bond.
However, Twitter is a fast way to get to know a larger amount of people, organizations, etc., at a much faster rate. Therefore, it is more information in a short period of time we can learn about others. Likewise, what others can learn about you, your organization, or both.
Twitter is a great way to quickly introduce yourself to many in a short time. You can feel free to join many conversations without feeling rude or others questioning “Who are you?” Therefore, you can quickly gain or build connections that can or will turn into followers. This will allow you to share with many about what you do, what you offer, how you can help, why you and not others, when you hold online events, and more.
Make yourself useful to others, be who you represent, your opportunity, your company, your career, your goals, etc. Therefore, take time to join in a few conversations. Thus, you will gain visibility and grow followers to your page.
Appropriate Twitter etiquette, if someone follows you, be nice and follow back. Likewise, do the same with all your social media sites you have joined and will join. However, make sure you read information or the profile of those that choose to follow you. If it is someone that may have questionable taste, values, etc., then you may not want to follow back. If it is really that questionable, then you may want to learn how to delete or block that follower.
Now you have the possibility of getting yourself, your name, your business, your organization, etc. out there. Think about the many out there that read through Twitter. Therefore, make yourself shine. Find ways to stand out and be different. Maybe if someone admires enough what you do and what you are all about, someone may be ready to give you the opportunity to increase drive to your site or your sales by using you in media such as radio, magazines, newspapers, journals, newsletters, or popular sites that millions visit monthly or daily.
However, the more social media you use, not only will you put yourself out there more, you will also find that you will reach different demographics that can be beneficial to you.
Do you have a Facebook fan page? If not, first add a twitter account which takes a few seconds. Then create a Facebook fan page, and be creative!
Now tell me, how has Twitter been good for you and your business? Do you have any other comments or suggestions? If you do, I would love to know!
